The AMCFF is scheduled to take place between 5 and 10 October.
Earlier in September, the festival revealed the poster for its upcoming edition. Designed by caricaturist Amr Fahmy, the poster is a satirical presentation of a number of Egyptian comedians and aims to highlight those who are responsible for creating so much joy through cinema.
Bearing the name of the film actor Mahmoud Hemeida, the festival will include several tributes, including to the actress Donia Samir Ghanem, to her father, the great late comedian Samir Ghanem and his wife, late artist Dalal Abdel-Aziz.
The festival will also celebrate the first Egyptian woman cinematographer Abya Farid, who died 40 years ago, as well as the renowned Egyptian director Mohamed Abdel-Aziz.
Samir Sabri will also be honoured for his long artistic career that has included singing, theater and dance. A tribute will also be paid to the French star Marianne Borgo for her cinematographic career.
On Wednesday, the management revealed yet another filmmaker to be celebrated during the upcoming edition: Wagih El-Leithy, a producer and distributor who hails from the large family of film producers that includes his older brothers Mamdouh El-Leity (also scriptwriter), Gamal El-Leithy, and Ihab El-Leithy. Their uncle Amr El-Leithy worked in the media.
One of the oldest film festivals in Egypt, the AMCFF is an annual event organised by the Egyptian Association for Film Writers and Critics, under the auspices of the ministries of culture, information, and tourism, and focuses on the cultural riches of the Mediterranean Basin.
The detailed schedule of the festival is yet to be revealed.
