The two projects include producing polylactic acid and using plastic waste to produce oil used for producing green ethylene.
El-Molla’s announcement came while addressing a session on combating plastic pollution held by the Mediterranean Energy Observatory (OME) on the fringes of COP27 in Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.
The minister pointed out the dangers to the marine environment of plastic waste, noting that Egypt has developed a national strategy that aims to reduce overconsumption of single-use plastic bags by 2050.
He also added that Sharm El-Sheikh has already banned single-use plastic bags.
