According to the cabinet decree, tourists who hold the World Cup Hayya Card will be exempted from the visa fee when arriving to visit Egyptian tourist destinations for a holiday or transit.
The facilitations will be available to Hayya Card holders throughout the World Cup, which is hosted by Qatar from 20 November to 18 December 2022, to benefit from the event and to promote tourism.
Hayya card is a digital fan ID that allows its holders entry to the State of Qatar and access to stadiums (to access a stadium, however, the holder of the ID should also have the match ticket).
The Hayya card is mandatory to anyone visiting Qatar from 1 November to 23 December 2023.
The card, which is provided for free for all those who have match tickets, gives its holder access to multiple services in Qatar, including transportation. It is also a personalized and secure identification document with the card holder’s name, photo, status, match tickets, Hayya number, passport number, QR card and other important information.
Hayya Card and Egyptian tourism
In response to the cabinet decree, the Ministry of Tourism announced that it has instructed hotels in the Red Sea cities of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh to offer discounts on their online rates to Hayya Card holders.
The ministry said that there will be a 50 percent discount on tickets to museums and ancient sites for Hayya Card holders during the tournament.
It also announced it would launch a promotional campaign to attract fans to visit Egypt during the World Cup in Qatar.
The tourism ministry also confirmed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation will collaborate with Air Cairo, EgyptAir and other airlines operating in the Arab Gulf region on issuing the necessary licenses and approvals that will allow them to increase their air carrier capacity and the number of flights operated from neighbouring Arab countries to Egypt.
