The book fair will be open for visitors from 10am to 8pm, starting 26 January, except on Fridays and Saturdays when it will close at 9pm.

The link for electronic reservation will be published soon on the book fair’s official page.

Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevine El-Kilani will announce in a press conference on Monday further details about the exhibition, according to the statement.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan will be this year’s guest of honour.

The late Egyptian poet Salah Jaheen will be the personality of the year, while the Egyptian writer Kamel Kilani, who has pioneered children’s literature across the Arab world, will be the personality of the year at the children’s exhibition.

The 54th edition of the fair is expected to see a high turnout, according to organisers and official participants.

The last edition saw an exceptional turnout, even amid tight coronavirus restrictions and cold temperatures.

Inaugurated in 1969 and organised by the General Egyptian Book Organisation, the Cairo International Book Fair is one of the largest in the world and the oldest in the Arab world, bringing hundreds of book sellers locally and worldwide.

Around two million visitors attend the fair each year.

Between 1984 and 2019, the fair was held at the Cairo International Fair Zone in Nasr City, but is now held at the more spacious and better equipped International Exhibition Centre in New Cairo.
