Other prominent honourees also include; Egyptian actress Hala Sedky, Egyptian composer Hesham Nazih, Senegalese director Mansour Sora Wade and Mozambican producer Pedro Pimenta

Under helms of the LAFF founder, script writer Sayed Fouad, the 12 edition is set to screen of 55 films from 32 countries, as well as host 10 different cinema workshops.

Through his social media, Ramadan, 32, expressed joy over the honour, recalling memories of his last award in the 2009 edition of the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival for his role on Yousry Nasrallah’s Ehky Ya Shahrazad.

After this film, Ramadan became a box-office hero in Egypt and the region for his controversial films, which were labelled violent by many critics, like Abdo Mouta, El-Almany, Qalb El-Asad and El-Deisel, as well as a couple of comedy films including Wahed Saidi and Akher Deek Fi Masr, in addition to his role in Sherif Arafa’s two part El-Kenz.

Also a controversial mahragantat hit-maker, Ramadan has had huge commercial success in TV during the Ramadan month season with successive hits like Ibn Halal, El-Ostora, Nesr El-Said, Zelzal, El-Price and Malhamet Moussa, as well as a theatre comedy Ahlan Ramadan.

LAFF is organised by the Independent Shabab Foundation with the support of the Egyptian ministries of culture, tourism and antiquities, youth and sports and foreign affairs. LAFF also takes place in cooperation with Luxor governorate, the Film Syndicate, and numerous sponsors.
