Fouad's meeting on Tuesday with MLG CEO Mohamed Salah and Lubna Al Sayegh, the management director at the group, also addressed how to utilise the Green Zone to create a dialogue on climate change and sustainability, a statement by the ministry read.

The meeting was on the sidelines of the World Government Summit (WGS) 2023, held in Dubai from 13-15 February under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’ and with the participation of around 20 presidents and 250 ministers as well as global experts, private sector leaders, and decision makers.

The Green Zone in Sharm El-Sheikh is a platform that brought together business community members, youth, civil society, artists, fashion communities, and academics from around the world to promote dialogue during COP27, which was held last November in the Red Sea resort city.

The Egyptian-Emirati cooperation in this regard aims to link the idea of visiting the natural reserves in Sharm El-Sheikh – the Nabq reserve and Ras Mohammed National Park – with visiting the Green Zone and the ministry's botanical garden in the city, Fouad said.

The cooperation between the two sides also seeks to include a programme for children to learn about the natural reserves through the Natural History Museum at the botanical garden.

Egypt has been working with the UAE, the host of COP28, to share expertise in various fields, including public relations, preparations, and negotiations.

Egypt has underscored the success of COP27, which was held under the theme ‘Together for Implementation,’ especially with the signing of the "historic" deal between around 200 companies to set up a loss and damage fund to help vulnerable nations cope with climate-induced disasters.
