The ENRRA is responsible for all regulatory control related to nuclear and radiation activities in Egypt.

According to its website, its mission is to ensure the peaceful use of atomic energy, ensuring the safety and security of people, property, and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation.

ENRRA Chairman, Sami Shaabann, issued a statment expressing gratitude to the management and auditing team for adhering to the highest international standards.

This certification is in line with the ENRRA's strategic goals, particularly the development and application of a comprehensive management system complying with both Egyptian and international standards in the field, Shaaban added.

The ISO is a non-governmental international organisation, comprising of experts from multiple standard bodies in over 160 countries, with the goal of developing international standards to support innovation and address global challenges.

Bureau Veritas Egypt, the auditor and granter of the certificate, lauded the effectiveness of the ENRRA's QMS, according to the statement.

Among its objectives, the ENRRA aims to "establish an integrated management system that aligns with the latest specifications of global management and quality systems and the guidelines and publications of the International Atomic Energy Agency with regard to regulatory bodies."

It is worth noting that the ENRRA is not the first Egyptian entity to receive the ISO 9001:2015 certification. The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) received the certification twice, in December 2021 and November 2022.

What is the ISO 9001:2015?

The ISO 9001:2015 is a certification granted specifically to organisations that achieve the ISO’s quality management system criteria.

ISO’s QMS standards include specific requirements for documented information, planning and determining process interactions and management of responsibilities and resources. Resources include the organization’s HR and work environment.

Additionally, it includes standards for product realisation with specific steps from design to delivery.

Moreover, it asks for further measurement, analysis, and improvement of the QMS through activities like internal audits and corrective and preventive action.

The QMS standards generally help reduce waste, prevent mistakes, engage staff, and set the organisition in a collective direction.

According to the ISO, it helps institutes organise and improve the efficiency of their processes, lowers their costs and continuously improves.
