Amir Abu Khadijeh, 25, was brought to a hospital in Tulkarm after he was hit by a bullet in the head during a siege of his house, the Ministry of Health reported.

Witnesses said gunfire was heard as a large Israeli army force raided the village and closed its main entrance, local activist Murad Droubi reported.

This prevented movement of people and cars while the Israeli forces surrounded the house in the village, Droubi added.

Later through the day, Israeli occupation forces detained at least 12 Palestinians in raids targeting their homes across the occupied territories, according to various sources, WAFA reported.

The Israeli occupation forces have killed 87 Palestinians since the start of the year, including 17 minors, two elderly men, and one woman.

In a separate incident, Israel Prison Services (IPS) conceded on Wednesday to the demands of 2,000 Palestinian prisoners who were supposed to go on a hunger strike on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, which starts today, WAFA reported.

The hunger strike was meant to protest all punitive and arbitrary measures imposed against them.

These measures had been called for by right-wing ultra-nationalist Israeli cabinet minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

"Some of the measures imposed by the IPS on the prisoners included controlling the amount of water they use, reducing the duration of showering so that prisoners are allowed to shower at a specific hour, and locking bathrooms designated for showering in some prisons," WAFA reported.

"The measures also included providing the prisoners with bad bread and in some prisons with frozen bread, as well as doubling the raids and searches against them using stun grenades and sniffer dogs."

More than 4,780 freedom fighters are currently incarcerated in Israel, including 29 female prisoners and 160 minors, WAFA figures say.
