The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Alaa Ezz and head of the Egyptian Commercial Service (ECS) Yehia El-Qathiq Bellah.
During the meeting, Bin Jassim asserted that there are huge opportunities for boosting cooperation between Egypt and Qatar at the regional and international levels.
Moreover, he affirmed the Chamber’s keenness to consolidate cooperation and coordination with Egypt’s industry ministry to make room for manufacturers and exporters from both countries to establish joint projects and work to remove the obstacles that may hinder trade exchange between Egypt and Qatar.
For his part, the Egyptian minister said that Egypt and Qatar share common views with regards to the importance of increasing benefits from the industrial and commercial potentials between the two countries.
The visit by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to Qatar last week, in addition to the visit of Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to Cairo in June, contributed to turning over a new page in Egyptian-Qatari relations, Samir said.
During El-Sisi's two-day visit to Qatar - his first official visit since assuming the presidency in 2014 – upon the invitation of the Qatari leaders, he held a meeting with the representatives from the Qatari Businessmen Association, in which he affirmed his keenness to develop economic and commercial cooperation with the Qatari business community and boost joint investment.
Samir also highlighted the significance of the role of the business communities in boosting the frameworks of cooperation, establish more joint investment projects and create more job opportunities, pointing out the ministry's full readiness to provide all kinds of support to Qatari companies investing in the Egyptian market.
Moreover, he asserted the importance of exchanging visions between business organisations on both sides to develop a comprehensive framework for investment opportunities in a way that contributes to establishing investment partnerships in many production and service fields.
The trade relations between Egypt and Qatar witnessed a great push over the past year, achieving an 84.3 percent increase compared to 2020, he Samir, adding that Qatari investments in Egypt amounted to $121.8 million in the first quarter of the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
