Ahmed Mounib (L), and Mohamed Fouad on piano
The event titled “International Festival World and Art” will take place on Saturday, this year focusing on Egyptian cultural riches.
In the music department, Egypt will be represented by Fouad and Mounib, a well-known duo performing their original compositions with Mohamed Fouad on piano and Ahmed Mounib on violin.
Having established themselves in Egypt in recent years, the duo often invites other musicians to join them on stage, as well as performing with a full orchestra.
In the first half of the concert, Fouad and Mounib will perform as a duo. In the second half, they will be joined by other renowned Egyptian musicians: Shady Darwish on cello, Hany El-Badry on nay and Hany Bedair on oriental percussions.
The concert will present numerous works composed by the duo, such as The Storm, Blame, A Date With Sunset, Nostalgia in Blue, Just in the Memory, Laughter, Rosetta and Lost, among others.
The story of Fouad and Mounib goes back to 2015, when the two musicians met on Facebook and began sharing their music. A few months later, the duo performed together in their first concert at Alexandria’s Creativity Centre.
The duo’s popularity began to grow, taking them to numerous renowned halls, including the Cairo Opera House and Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Arts Centre, as well as tours to Morocco and Austria.
With time, the musicians started pursuing more ambitious creative endeavours, with Mounib creating arrangements for a variety of ensembles and an orchestra.
The duo performed their first concert with an orchestra in February 2020 at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, where they performed to over 1,500 people. This was followed by a number of other concerts with orchestras, including one conducted by renowned Egyptian conductor George Kolta.
Besides the concert, the one-day event in Montenegro will also present a fashion segment showcasing Egyptian fashion designer Deana Shaaban and featuring Montenegrin fashion designer Ivana Miranovic and jewellery designer Katarina Zlajic.
The festival’s honourary president and secretary is Montenegrin-Egyptian model, blogger and actress Tara Emad.
