Mohamed Magdi converted a 13 th minute penalty to put the Red Devils ahead while Himid Mao netted the equaliser for the visitors in the 57 th minute.

Sherif who found the net against Zamalek in the Cairo derby, three days earlier, scored the winner, helping his side earn a difficult win.

Ahly gained an early penalty in what it seemed an easy affair after a foul on striker Mohamed Sherif inside the area.

Midfielder Mohamed Magdi converted the penalty in the 13 th minute of the game after sending the keeper in the wrong way.

Two minutes later South African forward wasted the chance to kill the game when his close-range effort was denied by the bar.

Ghazl El-Mahalla only chance in the first half came in the 35 minute but Abdou Yehya powerful shot hit the bar after a touch from Ahly’s Keeper Mohamed El-Shennawi.

Ahly started the second half in style with Salah Nohsen curling shot hit the woodwork, four minutes after the break.

Tanzanian international forward Himid Mao stunned the hosts in the 57 th minute when he scored the equalizer with a nice shot from inside the area.

Ahly pulled out on the attack with caretaker coach Sami Qomsan introduced the duo Walid Soliman and Hossam Hassan instead of Mahmoud Wahid and Percy Taw.

Hassan was close on scoring the winner in his first touch but his header was blocked by Mahalla keeper Amr Shaaban.

Shaaban shone again after blocking Amr Rabie nice shot that hit the bar after his slight touch.

In injury time, Sherif met a nice pass from substitute Zeyad Tarek that made him clear with a direct shot to score the winner.

The win helped Ahly remain third in the league table with 44 points, four points behind leaders Zamalek who played three games more.
